I also came to love Fenrhys in KOA, and I was incredibly happy to see him become blood sworn to Aelin. I’m not entirely sure if its a bad thing that I thought that Maas would draw it out and make us readers suffer a bit more (thank god she didn’t!).

Although, I was never expecting Aelin to escape Maeve’s clutches so early in the book.

But I loved that because it really shows how Maas has grown as a writer across the series. To be more specific, Aelin’s perceptive of her being tortured were hard-hitting, brutal and made me slightly squeamish. “Once upon a time, in a land long since burned to ash, there lived a young princess who loved her kingdom …”įrom the very beginning of the book, Maas doesn’t hold back at all with picking up from Aelin and Rowan’s perspectives. Dorian and Manon face their own turmoils about there identities and Rowan races against time to find his beloved mate with Elide and Lorcan in tow. Chaol and Yrene make there way across the continent to join with the forces up North in Terresen. Aedion and Lysandra are fighting up north against the masses of Earwan’s army. The final book follows the events of Empire Of Storms where Aelin is locked in an iron coffin and facing the wrath of Maeve. I might be a little bit rusty as it has been a while since I turned the last page with a heavy heart. Years in the making, Kingdom of Ash is the unforgettable conclusion to Sarah J.I’ve done it! I have finally completed my summer mission of reading and finishing the entire Throne of Glass series!
